The donation made by the country cutie marks the largest grant given to the museum by an artist, and the money is said to help fund an exhibit and classroom space dubbed as the “Taylor Swift Education Center” – which is expected to open in 2014.

She added: ‘After doing the role and holding these babies, you can really see how you can take a baby that you don’t know and who needs a home. You can give them a home a raise them as your own.

‘Through the character I came to understand how people do it, because before I never really thought about it.’
