It was this particular scene in the 1939 film The Women that left an indelible mark on legendary makeup artist Francois Nars—he used it as inspiration for NARS’s iconic crimson color called, fittingly, Jungle Red.
Now a remake, starring Hollywood heavy-hitters Annette Bening, Meg Ryan, Jada Pinkett Smith and Eva Mendes, is hitting theaters on September 12th, and though some details have been changed—Sydneys is now Saks—the drama remains. Hence, NARS saw no better time to release a commemorative Jungle Red set including a semi-matte lipstick, lip liner, and a high gloss, water and detergent resistant nail polish, all in the matching scarlet hue. The set, which is available, appropriately enough, only at Saks starting in September, is exactly what women want.
