The 29-year-old future queen is “around six weeks pregnant,” In Touch magazine claimed Thursday, citing its unlikely source as an indiscreet Buckingham Palace insider.
Persistent hints from a clucky Queen Elizabeth II apparently helped spur the royal couple into action, the magazine claimed.
“Since before they even got married, it’s been made clear to William and Kate that having children should be their number-one priority,” the magazine’s source disclosed.
“Queen Elizabeth II, in particular, has been dropping so many hints about wanting a great-grandchild — and an heir to the throne — that Kate feared she wouldn’t be able to face her without baby news,” the insider added.
The magazine’s exceptionally well-placed source was even in the loop on names the couple are mulling over for their first-born, the preferred sex of the child, and plans for the little one’s nursery.
“They want something traditional,” the source explained. “Edward, Philip and Michael are likely choices for a boy, or Alice or Rose for a girl.”
Prince William, In Touch reported, is “secretly” hoping for a daughter.
“He’s very much his mother’s son, and he also knows that his father, Prince Charles, would like a granddaughter,” the insider said, adding that the Duchess agrees. “She’s happiest when William is happy.”
When they are not undertaking royal duties, the expectant couple are reportedly busy preparing three nurseries; one in their current London residence, Nottingham Cottage, another in their home in Wales and a third at Kensington Palace.
In Touch’s faith in its information was absolute. The insider, it explained, “correctly revealed other royal secrets, including their honeymoon location and the queen’s wedding gift to Kate.”
Pregnancy rumors have swirled around the Duchess — who married William seven months ago — since she politely declined his offer to taste peanut paste during a charity trip to Denmark earlier this month.
Her refusal to eat the paste — which may be harmful to pregnant women — was reportedly accompanied by a “knowing” look at her husband that many media outlets felt added credence to rumors the couple is expecting.
A picture of the Duchess touching her stomach during the same trip, apparently added further weight to the claims.
