More than a dozen companies sever ties with Sean Combs following accusations of sexual abuse.
In the wake of a series of setbacks, investors swiftly distanced themselves from Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’s online retail platform, Empower Global, following a surge of outrage over multiple allegations of sexual abuse against the Harlem rapper.
Approximately eighteen brands opted to sever their connections with the e-commerce site. Annette Njau, the founder of Takura, informed Rolling Stone, “The decision was finalized on the day Casandra Ventura filed her lawsuit.” Njau emphasized, “We take the allegations against Mr. Combs very seriously and consider such behavior reprehensible and intolerable. We stand for the rights of victims and support them in speaking their truth, even when confronting individuals of significant influence.”
Lenard Grier, an executive at No One Clothiers, commented on the challenging decision, stating, “While it was difficult due to the admiration we once had for Mr. Combs as a business and entertainment leader, it was undoubtedly the right choice.”
The ripple effect unfolded following a lawsuit filed on November 16 by Sean’s former partner, Casandra “Cassie” Ventura, accusing him of sexual and physical abuse. Subsequently, three more women came forward with their allegations of sexual abuse against the producer-turned-entrepreneur.
Despite the scandalous accusations, Sean vehemently denied all charges. “Enough is enough. For the last couple of weeks, I have sat silently and watched people try to assassinate my character, destroy my reputation, and tarnish my legacy.”
He emphasized, “Sickening allegations have been made against me by individuals looking for a quick payday.”
Concluding, he stated, “Let me be absolutely clear: I did not engage in any of the reprehensible acts being alleged. I will vigorously defend my name, my family, and the truth,” as conveyed to the media outlet.
