Agreat place to get a feel of what’s going to be popular for the season ahead is by taking a look at the spring 2013 runways. On one hand we’ve got designers like Giles and Altuzarra embracing colorful accents, and on the other there are those like Balmain and alexander mcqueen who chose more natural looks for their models. These are just a few spring beauty trends for you to get excited for.

1. Emerald Everything

Color tends to dominate most beauty trends, and it’s no different when it comes to this year’s spring beauty trends. While jewel-toned colors tend to be more popular for the fall-winter period, this spring will see emerald become the talk of the town. Add a hint of emerald color to your look in the form of subtle green eye shadow, bold eyeliner, or glossy nail polish.

2. Matte Lip Color

Add some zest to your look this spring with a bold lipstick color. Instead of going for a glossy or sheer finish, the trend we’re seeing right now is for a matte lip. A matte lipstick is great for delivering a punchier pout. Take inspiration from the designer runways and choose a color that best suits you – Burberry chose a rich scarlet for their models, Missoni went for vibrant coral, and Giles opted for punchy pink.

3. Minimalist Hairdos

The minimalist hairdo is probably one of the most fuss-free beauty trends for spring. Whether you wear your hair out or up, try and keep things as simple as possible. It helps if your hair cut is designed to be low maintenance, so maybe consult with a hairdresser to find the best cut for you. When styling your hair, keep it fuss-free with clean parts, low ponytails, and naturally textured hair.

4. Natural Looking Lashes

In a move that may divide the masses, make up artists seem to be gravitating towards bare and natural looking lashes for spring. No more dealing with tricky false lashes or plumping mascaras. If you can’t bear to leave the house without a coat of mascara, choose one that separates and defines your lashes rather than thickens.

5. Sixties Style

All things retro have been making their way back into fashion and sixties-inspired looks are set to be popular for spring. Think filled-in brows and statement lined eyes in the style of Edie Sedgwick or Twiggy. Check out the beauty looks at the spring 2013 shows of Marc Jacobs, louis vuitton, and Moschino for inspiration.

6. Neutral Nails

It was bound to happen eventually. Over-the-top nail art takes a back seat to neutral nails this spring. If polish-free nails aren’t your thing then you can always opt for a range of nude hues instead. If you can’t ditch the nail art just yet, use your imagination and create some interesting patterns and textures using nude nail polish.

7. Graphic Liner

If you’re looking to have fun with your beauty looks, take inspiration from the runways of Dolce & Gabbana, Marchesa, and Fendi. While the runway take on graphic liner involved 3D embellishments, make this look work for you in the ‘real way’ by applying black liner to your bottom lash line or choosing a bright color to line your eyes.

Many of spring’s beauty trends revolve around minimalist looks combined with vibrant bursts of color. If you can’t wait till spring, you can always start rocking these looks now. Do you have any spring beauty trend predictions?
