Paying tribute to the British hit film and musical, Billy Elliot, the campaign includes a three-minute film and stills too.
Commemorating the 15th anniversary of Billy Elliot, Burberry’s new all-British cast campaign begins with original footage from the 2000 film, showing Billy placing a record on a record player as well as featuring the original soundtrack ‘Cosmic Dancer’ by T Rex.
The prestigious British label has bought Sir Elton John, Julie Walters, Romeo Beckham (his second Burberry Christmas campaign), James Bay, George Ezra, Michelle Dockery, James Corden, Naomi Campbell and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley together for this festive season.
They all are captured by Mario Testino, bouncing gleefully, decked in Burberry’s heritage and seasonal trench coats and made-in-Scotland cashmere scarves monogrammed with their initials.
Modelling for the current campaign, Elton John and Julie Walters, also have ties to Billy Elliot as Walters starred as dance teacher Sandra Wilkinson in the original film, while Elton wrote the music for the film’s hugely-successful stage adaptation, Billy Elliot the Musical.
The film is accompanied by a series of still images also shot by the brand’s stalwart campaign photographer Mario Testino.
The ad premiered at the brand’s flagship store on Regent Street in London, at an event hosted by Burberry’s chief creative and chief executive officer, Christopher Bailey.
