The hotel, which will officially open on May 6, 2014, will offer opening room rates starting at £450 (approximately $748) per room per night, including VAT. G?ng, London’s highest champagne and cocktail bar on level 52, will open in July.
Tîng is the collective name for the restaurant and lounge on level 35. Situated 128 meters (420 feet) above ground level, the vibrant space will showcase sweeping 360-degree views across the capital.
The restaurant will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and present a modern European menu with a hint of Asian flavoring created using the finest local market and regionally sourced produce. Signature dishes will include hand-dived scallops from the north-west Highland coast cooked a la plancha and served with carrot, ginger and a light yuzu and grape seed oil dressing and organic Welsh lamb from Rhug Estate, glazed with mirin, sake and soy sauce served with root vegetables and Kentish apples.
The lounge will offer a distinctive à la carte menu of authentic Shangri-La Asian specialties, including curry laksa, Hainan chicken rice and char koay teow. Served in theatrical elegance, the city’s afternoon tea will be taken to a new level with two unique offerings – a classically English experience and an Asian-inspired alternative, both complemented by an exclusive selection of over 30 teas. www.ting-shangri-la.com
Láng, the patisserie and artisan deli located at ground level, will specialize in signature Shangri-La cakes, macaroons, chocolates, pastries, salads and sandwiches to eat-in or take-away. Seasonal hampers will also be available for purchase. Ideal for morning coffee, a quick lunch or an afternoon treat, Láng will offer diners a range of delectable indulgences, such as Chocolate Temptation—a rich chocolate sponge, red fruit tea-infused Ghanaian chocolate ganache and raspberry compote topped with a soft chocolate cream.
Located on level 52 and with spectacular views across London’s skyline, G?ng will include a cocktail bar, champagne bar and a stunning infinity pool and will open in July. The perfect destination for sunset cocktails and late-night drinks, guests will be able to sip on the bar’s signature cocktail ‘The Big Smoke’ (Dodd’s Gin, Grand Marnier, Tio Pepe, Mancino Rosso Amaranto and orange bitters) or select from other skillfully created seasonal drinks made using locally sourced spirits. Champagne aficionados will delight in exceptional champagne available by the glass from rare small grower varieties to the ultimate Grandes Marques.
Executive Chef Emil Minev, formerly of Shangri-La properties in Tokyo and the Maldives, will oversee all three venues. With almost 25 years of culinary expertise, prior to working with Shangri-La, Chef Minev was with Jumeirah Emirates Towers, Dubai and some of the capital’s finest luxury hotels, including The Ritz.
Three river-facing event spaces on level 34 will offer a London venue experience like none other. Spectacular views from 125 meters (410 feet) above the city will compliment the state-of-the-art conferencing technology and tailor-made catering services. The largest of the venues, Ren, will accommodate up to 140 guests; the other two, Yi and Li, will be able to hold up to 10 and 35 guests, respectively. The entire level 34 may also be requested for a standing reception of up to 200 guests. The grand staircase connecting levels 34 and 35, with its vista of St Paul’s Cathedral and beyond, will be a picture-perfect location for wedding photography.
