There are many reasons why women are so addicted to the thrill of being elevated, appearing taller and maybe even a bit slimmer – But have you ever thought about the risks that are involved when you wear stilettos on a regular basis?
In the article, Women Risk Snapped Ligaments for Shoe Fashion, you can read about the health concerns from various doctors who firmly believe that we are putting our feet at a high risk of injury if we continue to surrender to this obsession.
“Dr. Kathleen Stone, president of the American Podiatric Medical Association, advises against wearing heels that are higher than 2 inches but knows many are not likely to heed the advice. The health effects of high heels are well-known.
It’s very difficult, not only on the foot, but the knees and low back,” she said. “The way the shoes put pressure on the front part on your feet, it applies compression on your toes and irritation to the nerves in the toes.
Recent studies have affirmed the relationship between foot problems and high heels”
What are you thoughts? Are you going to reduce the amount of time that you spend wearing your stilettos in order to protect your feet? Why or why not?
I’m looking forward to your opinions on this interesting article, I will be posting my thoughts in the comment section as well!
