Forget notches on the bedpost: When it comes to true love, men fall hard fast. Most think they can tell whether it’s “the real thing” after a single date, whereas women aren’t certain until the sixth, a study finds. For nearly a quarter of men, things move even faster: They believe in love at first sight and know whether a woman is “the one” after just seconds, the Telegraph reports. Men who hail from Britain, where the study was conducted, also fall in love more often than women—an average of three times, compared to once for women.

Among other interesting discoveries in the study, which was commissioned as part of a bestselling author’s novel launch: Men tend to be the first to say “I love you,” they’re more likely to “pine” for their first loves, and they’re more likely to regret their first breakups. Women, meanwhile, are more likely to be satisfied with their romantic choices—though they’re also more likely to follow their exes’ love lives online. A quarter of Brits say they’ve never been in love at all.
