Between work, your family, your home and everything else that you need to attend to, sometimes you forget to take care of yourself, and taking care of yourself needs to be a top priority. Here are a few simple suggestions for ways to spend quality ‘me’ time.
1. Take a Bath
It sounds super simple to do, and that is because it is. One of the easiest ways to spend quality ‘me’ time is to take a bath. Fill up your tub with warm water, add some salts or bubbles, if you like, and take a nice, long soak. Add to the relaxation by burning some aromatherapy candles and by playing some soothing music.
2. Spend Time with a Book
When was the last time you sat down and actually read a book? Reading is a great way to unwind. Not only is it relaxing, but it allows you to escape the stresses of your daily life that normally fill your mind so that you can escape for a little while. So, grab a good book and curl up on the couch with a blanket and enjoy some reading time.
3. Get a Mani/Pedi
Go ahead and treat yourself to a little bit of pampering by getting a manicure and a pedicure. Head to a salon and spend an hour or so having your fingers and your toes rubbed, moisturized and polished.
4. Enjoy a Tasty Beverage
Spend some quality time with yourself while enjoying a glass of wine, a yummy beer or a cup of tea. After you put the kids to bed or finish your work for the day, pour your beverage of choice, put your feet up and sip yourself into relaxation.
5. Get a Massage
A manicure and a pedicure are certainly great options for enjoying a little bit of quality time with yourself, and another great way to get some pampering and enjoy some time alone is by getting a massage. Everyone needs one from time to time and while you are being rubbed, you will feel your stresses melt away.
6. Take a Walk
Head outside on a nice day and enjoy taking a walk by yourself. Soak up the sunshine, breathe in the fresh air and take in the beauty of the scenery that surrounds you. A walk can allow you to regroup, clear your head and get back to center. A walk can be very therapeutic.
7. Go Shopping
Treat yourself to a mini shopping spree. Head to your favorite store – clothing, accessory, home goods, wherever – and spend some time shopping without having to worry about anyone or anything else. When you go shopping alone, you can really concentrate and get the things that you actually want to get, instead of having to hear ‘Mom, can I get this?’ or ‘Honey, are we done yet?’
We all feel a little stressed out from time-to-time. What do you do when you feel like you need to get away from it all and you need some time alone? What’s your favorite way to spend “me” time?
