Columbo star Peter Falk died in Los Angeles Thursday night (June 23) at the age of 83, a family spokesman confirmed.

The beloved actor suffered from Alzheimer’s disease and is survived by his wife, Shera, and two daughters from a previous marriage.
“Falk died peacefully at his Beverly Hills home in the evening of June 23, 2011,” according to the statement from his family.
Peter won four Emmy Awards for his portrayal of detective Lt. Columbo. He was also nominated twice for the best supporting actor Oscar!
